Another charm for solvency is to take seven tiny turquoise stones in the palm of your hand and speak this wish spell aloud:
Luck be quick,
luck be kind,
and, by lucky seven,
good luck will be mine.

Pouch of Plenty: Crystal Charm Bags
A charm bag is a little bag or pouch filled with objects charged with magic for a specific intent. You can charge them by placing them on your altar for 24 hours or with spell work.
Gather together:
- Small muslin or cloth bags/pouch (that could fit in the palm of your hand)
- 3 pebble-sized crystals of green jade or peridot or turquoise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Bolline
- Dried basil leaves, one teaspoonful
- Green candle
- Thyme or cinnamon incense
- A length of green cord or string, a foot in length
My life is blessed and this I know.
Into this bag, prosperity will flow.
I see the future is bright wherever I go,
My life is blessed; this much I know.
With harm to none; so mote it be.
Using your bolline, cut the cinnamon stick into three pieces. Cut the green cord into 3 pieces. Place the basil, pebbles, and cinnamon into the pouch. Now take the green cord, one length at a time, and tie at the end of the bag securely, wrapping it around six times and with a bow. Keep it with you in your pocket and into your life, money will flow.

DIY Crystal Charm
This “floating” crystal choker seems magical because the gems appear to hover around your lovely neck all by themselves. And maybe sometimes they do! The secret, aside from the magical gems, is the invisible thread, easily obtained at any craft store. The purpose of the Choker of Charm is to make you simply irresistible to whomever you wish to attract. Wake your boyfriend up with this enchanted choker, or hit the town with your friends and notice how a crowd develops around YOU!
You’ll need these ingredients: twenty-one crystal beads, twenty-two inches of invisible thread, a lobster-claw clasp, and glue.
First, tie one end of the invisible thread to the loop in the lobster-claw clasp, also readily available at any craft store and most jewelry stores. Knot the thread twice, add a drop of glue, and allow the thread to dry. Clip off the extra thread after the glue has dried. Then, string three beads onto the thread about three-quarters of an inch from the clasp and tie a knot in the thread beside the beads. Repeat until you have used all the beads. There will be seven groups of three, and each group of crystals should be evenly separated. At the last bead, tie the end of the thread to the clasp ring.
Here are a few irresistible crystals to consider using in your Choker of Charm:
-
Amazonite makes you hopeful
-
Amber boosts your spirits—you will feel good!
-
Aventurine creates good opportunities
-
Banded agate attracts a lover of strength and courage
-
Brown jasper makes you confident and emotionally secure
-
Opal enhances beauty and makes you more psychic
-
Pearl augments femininity

Lepidolite—Let Go of Your Worries Stone
Lepidolite should be called the letting-go stone. It’s like a fresh breeze coming into a room filled with stale air. In elixir form, it’s a wonderful way to deal with addictive behavior or to rid yourself of old patterns that no longer serve you or are potentially unhealthy. This uncommon mica, an ore of lithium, has only recently come onto the gem and mineral market. It is shiny and plate-like in appearance, usually occurring in a pretty, pearly pink or purple color. On occasion, it appears white, and, very rarely, it shows up in gray or yellow. This mineral occurs in Brazil, Russia, California, and a few spots throughout Africa. My favorite specimens are the single, large sheets of the lovely mica, which are called books and are an unforgettable violet.
Lepidolite is a great stone for getting a handle on anger issues. It soothes unresolved resentments, hatred, and frustrations. It is another mental stone and amplifies thoughts. Lepidolite is almost like a fairy stone in that it attracts positive energy, brightens spirits, and increases intuition. This is one powerful chakra healer, particularly for the heart and root chakras. One of the most important uses for this stone, albeit with great care, is for healing issues resulting from incest. Lepidolite is so powerful that it can be a tool for those dealing with manic depression.

Making the Tools of the Magical Trade Part I
Just as you can design your own rituals, you can create your own ritual accessories and tools. Your intentions and personal energy are the driving forces behind the enchantments you create, and the same is true of crafting magical tools.
Charm Boxes
Native Americans, Greeks, Celts, and Egyptians all used magical boxes during ceremonies and for storing sacred objects. Christian religions followed suit—the famous biblical Ark of the Covenant was, in fact, a magical box. Spell work during medieval times involved boxes for love, health, fertility and home and in the fields, prosperity, and changes of luck. In more modern times, a young woman’s “hope chest” contained her wishes, intentions, and materials for a happy marriage.
You can make charm boxes, also known as spell boxes, very easily. A job spell box should contain aventurine or peridot stones, patchouli incense, green candles, and ferns. You can make a psychic spell box with cloves, rosemary, and amethyst and quartz crystals. A good love spell box contains a pink candle, rose petals, two pieces of rose quartz, and two copper pennies. These are just some of the examples; more suggestions are in the appendix in the back of this book.
Mirrors
Throughout time, people have been looking for answers in mirrors, gazing balls, pools, and even using bowls filled with ink to peer into another dimension. Primitive people used obsidian and other shiny rocks to communicate with spirits. Surfaces that are shiny, smooth, and reflective have always lent themselves well to scrying and other intuitive work. Because of their use in scrying, mirrors came to be seen as magical portals to promote psychic awareness to other worlds.
It is possible to create your own scrying mirror and empower
it with energy and intention in a variety of ways. First, find
a round mirror with a frame that will make it easy to apply
crystals or other objects with glue (I like to use wood or
plastic). The frame should have a lot of surface area on which
you can affix your magical objects. There are many objects that
are suitable for your mirror. If you collect sea glass or shells and
pretty rocks, those will suffice. If you don’t have any objects on
hand, visit a rock shop or a New Age store. You can purchase
seashells and fifty to a hundred small crystals. The crystals can
be various quartzes and semiprecious stones of similar shape
and small in size.
You can use a rainbow of colors or you can stick with just one kind of stone. I prefer to use all amethysts on my mirror; I feel more connected to this lovely purple gem because it is my birthstone.
Before applying the clear-drying glue to your frame, clean it with a soft, dry cloth. Take your crystals, shells, glass or other items and affix them one at a time, in any pattern you like. Some examples of mirrors I’ve come across featured concentric circles of color, following the spectrum from dark red garnet to clear quartz, and gorgeous spirals and paisley prints all across the frame.
Different kinds of questing and querying may call for several different magic mirrors.
Different Gems to Use for Your Mirror
Peridot—Issues relating to self-image and matters centered upon you
Rough Rubies—Matters relating to love
Jade—Money matters
Sea Glass and Seashells—Effective for Water signs (Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces), especially if gathered during a walk on the beach while searching for answers
Anyone who feels drawn to the ocean will benefit from a seashell magic mirror. Many of us go for walks along the water to think. Using seashells on your mirror can help you be twice as effective in finding your answers.

Sowing Seeds of Positive Change in Your Life
Nature is the ultimate creator. At a nearby gardening store or hardware store, get an assortment of seed packets to plant newness into your life. If your thumb is not the greenest, try nasturtiums, which are extremely hardy, grow quickly, and will spread to beautify any area. They reseed themselves, which is a lovely bonus. Light the following candles:
- Green candle with a peridot or jade for creativity, prosperity, and growth
- Orange candle with jasper or onyx for clear thinking and highest consciousness
- Blue candle with turquoise or celestine for serenity, kindness and a happy heart
- White candle with a quartz crystal or limestone for purification and safety
Put the seeds under the soil with your fingers and tamp them down gently with your fingers while meditating on your wish for positive changes. Water your new moon garden, and affirmative change will begin in your life that very day.

Datolite—Dividing Lines
Mineral collectors love datolite. The name comes from the Greek word dateishtai, which means “to divide.” Datolite is a fairly fragile rock; the name is no doubt a reference to the fact that datolite crumbles very easily due to its composition of calcium boron silicate hydroxide. It occurs in green, yellow, or brown, and very rarely in orange, red, or gray. It was first discovered in the United States in 1806 in the Connecticut River valley but has since been found in Russia, Canada, Mexico, Norway, Africa, and Michigan. Datolite has a group of sister stones, including bakerite, hingganite, and gadolinite, that can sometimes be found in sheet form. Datolite is most commonly found as a large nodule and in extremely infrequent cases is a faceted crystal. Pink datolite has the sweet name “sugar stone.”

Azurite—Jewel of Wisdom
It seemed no praise was too great for azurite in times past, when it was reputed to restore the brain and help unborn babies form. Now, it is worn for letting go of the past and for accepting what is to come, while seeing deep within. Azurite is good for the skin and bones as well as the spleen and thyroid. This meditation stone is most helpful if worn as a ring on the right hand.

Muscovite
Muscovite, mined in Switzerland, Austria, and the Czech Republic and found first in Russia, from whence it takes its name (after the city of Moscow), is fairly common. It often comes in sheets of mica that can be clear and translucent or a pearly white, gray, pale pink, yellow, rose red, or violet. At one time, sheets of muscovite were used in the kitchen over windows. While it is most frequently an ordinary rock, it can occur as a gem; of particular note is the rare Brazilian twin variety that forms five-pointed stars and is referred to as star muscovite. There is also an emerald green specimen called fuchsite.
Muscovite is a problem-solving crystal. It also has a rare and wonderful quality in that it facilitates astral travel and astral projection. This is a visionary stone and can put you in contact with the angelic realm so you can call on your guardian angels to come to your aid. Muscovite helps us all to take a deep look inside and see how we are missing out on important messages and are unaware of certain behaviors and projections we are putting out unconsciously. Though this can be tough work, this kind of self-examination is essential for true soul growth. Muscovite also gives the inner grit to make changes based on this new information about the self.

Jade
I can’t help but marvel that I’m writing about jade on Chinese New Year. Jade is held in the highest regard by the Chinese and has been for thousands of years, thought to bring good luck and prosperity. Jade is a harbinger of purity and tranquility. The Chinese so adore this tone that they carry little talismanic pieces with them everywhere they go. Other cultures—the Maori of New Zealand and the Japanese—also hold jade blessed. Jade is a soft stone, perfect for carving. Both the Chinese and Japanese decorated royal personages with exquisite jade jewelry. Jade comes from Myanmar, Russia, Italy, China, and North and Central America. It is so affordable, I urge you to explore all the magical colors—yellow, orange, blue, red, purple, white, brown, and classic jade green—and powers of positivity.
Jade brings with it the power of love and protection. It is also a dream stone, promoting prophetic and deeply meaningful dreams.
- Purple jade heals the broken heart, allowing understanding and acceptance in and pain and anger out. If you are going through a breakup, purple jade will help you with the heartache.
- Green jade is the counselor stone and can help relationships that aren’t working become functional instead of dysfunctions; this shade is also a boon for the brain. Green jade helps with getting along.
- Red jade promotes the proper release of anger and also generates sexual passion. Serve your lover a passion potion in a cup of carved red jade while wearing only red jade. Sparks will fly!
- Blue jade is a rock for patience and composure and for conveying a sense of control. Wear blue jade pendants for serenity.
- Yellow jade is for energy, simple joy, and maintaining a sense of being a part of a greater whole. A yellow jade bracelet or ring will help you feel that all is well in your world.
Jadeite and nephrite are two varieties of jade, with the far more translucent and rarer jadeite being the more popular. Their healing properties are very much the same, however, and the different colors manifest different curatives. All jade brings positive energy. In 2001, a 2,000 ton boulder of jade was discovered in Ptiakant in Myanmar—now that’s a whole lot of love!

Flint
Flint is probably not thought of as a crystal, let alone as a healing crystal, but it is a variety of quartz whose crystal structure is not visible to the eye. Flint most commonly occurs in the form of rounded nodules in a grayish black color. If it is found near chalk, it will have a white coating. Flint can also be red or brown in color, and it is found all over the world.
Early humans in the Stone Age cultures of the Pleistocene era appreciated the hardness of this practical crystal, and they used it to make crude tools and spearheads. More-modern men used flint to set off the gunpowder in flintlock guns. It is unfortunate that flint came to be so relied upon for weapons, as its energy can actually be very beneficial to the tissue of the human body. Flint gives an allover sense of well-being, not just in the body but also in the mind. The special gift flint gives is a renewed sense of strength and gentle healing power to those suffering from degenerative diseases. Flint in your home will ground you and create a sense of safety and comfort.
