Flourish with Fluorite: Overcome Brain Strain

Violet—or amethyst—colored fluorite is especially good for the bones, including the marrow. It jogs the third eye and, best of all, imparts good old common sense! Green fluorite is favored for its ability to ground and center excessive physical and mental energy. Clear fluorite awakens the crown chakra and allows you to let go of anything holding back spiritual development. Blue fluorite facilitates mental clarity, orderly thought, and the ability to be a master communicator. Yellow fluorite kindles the synapses and awakens memory. It will also make you smarter and boost your creativity a great deal.

Any fluorite reduces electromagnetic pollutants and cleanses the aura. Get a big chunk of fluorite at your favorite metaphysical five-and-dime, and put it right beside your computer to decrease stress. Those long hours of staring at the screen will cease to sap your energy. Look at your fluorite at least once an hour to reduce eye and brain strain, too.

Onyx

Onyx has a lot of earth energy. This stone can come in many colors—from white to black with every shade in between, including pink, red, yellow, and brown. It is so common that it is often used as building material. I would think it would be interesting to live in a building material. I would think it would be interesting to live in a building made of onyx since this stone holds memories and secrets! Onyx retains the physical record of what happens around it; therefore, it is a story stone. Onyx is super stable and shares this strength with people who need it. It is particularly good for athletes and people who do physical labor. Healers recommend that onyx be worn only on the left side of the body or on a chain so that it hangs at the center of the body in the heart and solar plexus area. Onyx is best at reliving stress and quieting the mind.

This is a generous rock in that it creates goodwill and self-confidence. If you have an occasion that makes you nervous, or a very thorny and difficult task at hand, you should adorn yourself with an onyx ring, bracelet, or pendant, and things will go much better and you will feel more optimistic about them. Onyx is good for issues with the skeleton, the teeth, and the bones. Be careful about wearing onyx as a choke

Fluorite

Fluorite comes in every color of the rainbow and features a bonus—its fluorescent quality produces a special, rather eerie glow under ultraviolet light. Pure fluorite (simple fluorine and calcium) is colorless. Colored fluorite—in oceanic green, dark purple, buttery yellow, pale amethyst, or bright blue—results from traces of other elements.

Fluorite is dualistic in its opacity—it can by crystal-clear or translucent. Fluorite is rather like glass except it’s brittle and soft, which keeps it out of the running as a precious gemstone, even though it is just as beautiful to look at and polishes to a brilliant, glossy surface. The yielding surface scratches easily, making it an unfortunate choice for a ring. Fluorite is best worn as an earring, close to the brain and neck and spine, areas where it offers enormous assistance and healing. Even as a pin or pendant, it must be handled very gingerly to avoid damage or scratches to the surface.

Fluorite is commonly found in China, Peru, Norway, Australia, Britain, and several areas of North America. The state of Illinois has massive fluorite deposits which formed around 150 million years ago from the fluorinated (by Mother Nature herself!) water that was heated and rose to a high level during the Jurassic period, flowing all around limestone deposits from the earlier Mississippian period of 330 million years ago. The fluorine-rich brine hit the calcium-laden limestone, and the conditions were perfect for crystallization of fluorite. Think about that for a moment. The crystal you hold in your hand may well have formed 100 million years ago. What vast energy must be contained inside!

I find it somewhat amusing that fluorine flowed in ancient river waters naturally, and now we have fluoride (a compound of fluorine) put into the drinking water of today to strengthen teeth and prevent tooth decay. There is a link, however, because fluorite is also beneficial to bones and teeth. The ancients used it to treat growths and cancers. Fluorite sparks the mentality and can bring on deeply meaningful epiphanies. In addition to bring beneficial for arthritis, sports injuries, and skeletal issues, fluorite is a boon to sexuality, said to be Mother Nature’s Viagra! Fluorite creates conditions wherein the gentle release of sexual anxiety and libido problems is possible. On your second honeymoon, take a chunk of fluorite crystal to the hotel—ooh la la!

Calcite

Calcite, or limestone, is one of the more plentiful stones, coming in a range of colors from black to white, with every shade in between. Approximately 4 percent of Earth’s surface is made up of calcite. Calcite gets its name from chalixthe Greek word for lime. Marble is limestone formed from heat and pressure, and calcite is the cement in many sandstones and shales. Calcite is the basis for many formations found in caves, such as cave veils, cave pearls, stalactites , and stalagmites. Environmentalists are heartened by this because this oceanic biological activity can act as a carbon-dioxide filter and help stem the greenhouse effect in the atmosphere.

The crystals in calcite can take on a thousand different shapes by combining the forms of rhombohedrons, scalahedrons, prisms, and pinacoids, to name but a few. More than 300 forms have been noted in calcite, and the symmetry is nearly unmatched, with many twins.

Calcite is all over the world, but certain conditions have made for very special specimens. In Cornwall, England; Pugh Quarry, Ohio; and Elmwood, Tennessee, are beautifully clear, amber-orange pyramid shapes called dogtooth spar. Mexican onyx, banded with orange, red, tan, brown, yellow, and white and having an appealing marble-like smoothness, is a very common type of calcite used in carvings sold in gift shops around the globe.

Calcite is helpful to bones and joints and is a memory booster. In addition to aiding in retaining information, calcite is a calming agent that can bring clarity to decision-making processes. Green calcite is a terrific support to people in transition, bringing about positive energy in place of the negative. The yellow and gold calcites are quite useful for meditation due to their association with the sun and with light, the sign of the spiritual path and higher knowledge. It is said that these sunny calcites can even help with astral projection. Calcite is a healing stone and is highly recommended for physicians, nurses, and healers to keep at their offices.
