Your Magical Home: Flower Power

Flower Power

Here is one of my favorite ways to create a sense of  sanctuary in your home:

Safe Haven Potpourri

Potpourri was a medieval product revived by the Victorians, who used the symbolic meanings and powers of flowers. Grow flowers in your kitchen garden or buy cut flowers. Dry them; then place them in a pretty container. Choose flowers that connect with your astrological sun sign, moon sign and personal energy. Try a mix of your favorites along with some of the beloved posies of Victorian and medieval times:

Daisy opens in the morning and closes when the sun goes down; this beloved flower is associated with purity, loyalty, innocence, patience and simplicity.

Pansies are also called Heartsease and represent merriment!

Iris stands for wisdom, faith, friendship and hope eternal.

What are you favorite flowers?

I would love to hear about your DIY potpourri recipe so please do share!

Bright blessings to you and yours,
Cerridwen

The Best Kind of Magic

No matter how humble, kitchens are where we gather together.  The very stuff of life takes place in this room- cooking, sharing meals, and talking about our lives. What can be more sacred than this? Nothing. For pagans, far more than meals are prepared. All manner of concoctions and cures are created. Herbs are ground up, brews are brewed, essential oils are bottled, healing teas are steeped, tinctures are carefully measured to name but a few of the duties of a kitchen witch.  .
The kitchen of a witch is a thing to behold- a sacred space where good health, prosperity, and love can be conjured. The kitchen is truly the heart of the home, imbued with positive energy. Magic and spellwork is about expansion- expanding your horizons, enriching your mind and spirit and celebrating the real riches of wellbeing and contentment. Every witch walks the spiritual path with practical feet, navigating the modern world aided by ancient wisdom, handed down generation after generation. When you begin to access this special kind of knowledge, you join a lineage of folks who are more in tune with the natural world around us- our mother earth, the moon and the stars, herbs and plants, animal allies. All these are gifts and you will use these in the sanctity of your kitchen. As soon as you approach your magic consciously, you will see that you have the power to choose abundance.  Then you can move on to the truest kind of prosperity which has nothing to do with material gain, but is sharing blessings with family and friends, loved ones, and your community. It is creating meaning and happy memories.

Magic resides inside of us; we create it with our thoughts and actions. It is our deepest power and we are all born with it. The goal of ritual is to bring about needed change. It is how we make things better for ourselves, for our friends and loves ones, and for our community and our world. You are not just sipping a homemade healing tea in your cozy kitchen; you are performing a ritual like many before you. This book is designed with you in mind, to encourage and empower you to live life to the fullest and, most importantly, to access the wisdom that comes so naturally to you. With just a few of the ideas in this blog I intend as your sourcebook of inspiration, you’ll soon be brewing potent potions from your own herb garden, crafting auspicious altars, fermenting supernatural spirits in your pantry, serving feasts to the people you love in honor of seasonal festivals and engaging in highly satisfying spellwork. Summon the power of domestic gods and goddesses at your disposal and, above all, enjoy every joy-filled day of this gift called life.
